22 US soldiers were injured in a military helicopter crash in Syria late Monday night. US Central Command said the helicopter was not attacked, adding that the cause of the "accident" was being investigated.

According to the US Central Command, 10 service members were evacuated to higher medical facilities outside the Central Command Area (CENTCOM AOR), which oversees US forces in the Middle East.
“A helicopter crash in northeastern Syria injured 22 US servicemen to varying degrees. The service members are being treated for their injuries and 10 have been evacuated to higher medical facilities outside the CENTCOM AOR," the official statement said.
"The cause of the incident is under investigation, although there were no reports of hostile fire," it added. The US previously said 23 soldiers suffered traumatic brain injuries in two attacks by Iran-backed militants in March.
